Tidbits from Saturday

Just a few things …

Quote: Mom: “Hey Jairus, are you alright?” Jairus: (6-year-old bro) “Yeah, I just have sweaty eyes”

Fun Fact: Today, Ellie and I cooked three chickens. It’s going to make three meals if we ration everything out. No, these weren’t live chickens, they were ones from the store … I never had figured out how to clean, seasons, and cook them, so now I know. Everyone said dinner was wonderful, which is mainly due to my spice chef, Ellie. Gut chef (me) safely managed to dispose of the heart and liver, stored inside of the chicken.

Short Journal: This morning, Dad and I attended the Men’s Breakfast and later visited two of his patients in the nursing home. I think we’re going to go again tomorrow as a family and play some music for them.

El Bike Ride

Standard

Kristi, Aaron, Noelle, and I headed out to Pope and Talbot to ride the trails this afternoon. ‘Twas a beautiful day, although it did get a bit chilly once the sun went down. We passed a few bikers and horseback riders along our ride … Aaron brought plenty of snacks.

Feeding the Cookie Monster

Standard

Well … I figured it was time to make some cookies with the sibs – it’s kinda our special tradition every year.

So, we pored through recipe books, attempting to find the “perfect” sugar cookie and frosting recipe. Kristi had bookmarked a recipe online, so we decided to go for it.

The guys (Aaron, Jairus, and I) started working on creating the cookie dough while Noelle and Lily headed up the frosting manufacturing. All in all, they turned out really good. Jai-Jai crushed candy canes to top a few cookies and my Mom picked up some assorted sprinkles for the remainder.

We had two for dinner and finished frosting and decorating them after cleaning up the dishes. Making the cookies is fun, cleaning up after yourself isn’t, and … eating them is the best part – but I assume you already knew that.
